As the HBK Braunschweig has the status of a university (i.e. the right to award doctoral and post-doctoral degrees), the appointed candidate will be expected to develop her/his own subjects of research and to play an active role in external funding for third-party funding and in academic self-governance. All candidates are expected to demonstrate an appropriate level of written and spoken German as well as social awareness, leadership skills and gender sensitivity.

Further requirements of the position are defined under Section 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz of June 15, 2017)

Additional qualifications of the candidates are:
–the ability and enthusiasm to establish collaborative partnerships with local contemporary art collections and museums and with other national and international universities, art colleges and other establishments
–the ability and enthusiasm to network with other areas of the HBK Braunschweig such as (especially) teacher training, art, design and media studies in the context of teaching and research
