New York Architecture Book Fair
February 1–August 1, 2018
Storefront for Art and Architecture, as part of the first edition of the New York Architecture Book Fair, presents Salons: Personal Collections, a series of intimate events that will be held in the homes of referential New York City based architects in the spring and summer of 2018. Each event will explore a selection of books from the host’s personal library, open to audiences for the first time. The salons will be structured as informal conversations with invited guests.
In partnership with Columbia GSAPP and e-flux Architecture, Storefront will release conversations and musings from each event in the form of podcast created by GSAPP and a critical essay published by e-flux Architecture.
The first salon will take place on Thursday, February 15 at the home of Bernard Tschumi.
Salons are open to founding members of the New York Architecture Book Club, the key group that supports the book fair initiative.
About the New York Architecture Book Fair
Storefront for Art and Architecture presents the first edition of the New York Architecture Book Fair in May and June of 2018, taking the form of a network of book related interventions throughout the city.
Leading up to and during the book fair, initiatives include: a global survey, the salon series, a conference with the New York Public Library, an exhibition at Storefront’s gallery space, and city-wide pop-up architecture book collections in partnership with local bookstores and cultural organizations. These various initiatives serve to reflect upon the last thirty five years of architecture and book production in a global context.
With an archeological and projective twist, the project seeks to celebrate and evaluate both existing and missing volumes of a history still in the writing.
