The University of Idaho Prichard Art Gallery presents Attention to Detail. The exhibition showcases the strength of the printmaking tradition at the forefront of innovation through a wide range of printmaking styles and processes, from traditional to contemporary. The exhibit features the work of artists James Bailey, Bev Beck Glueckert, Tim Chapman, Victoria Goro Rapoport and John Ford, each exhibiting innovation and superior craft in their approach. From whimsical to darkly penetrating, each artist is interested in the human psyche, its connection to the natural world, history and self. Artist James Bailey will lecture and present a printmaking workshop on Friday, February 13, in Moscow in conjunction with the exhibit opening.
Collectively, the exhibition Attention to Detail represents the wide range of possibility that exists within the realm of printmaking. Individually, the work explores themes of person and place, transitions from present to past, mortality, and search for balance therein.
This exhibit has been made possible with a 10,000 USD National Endowment for the Arts Challenge America grant and curated by UI MFA graduate student, Devon Mozdierz, with guidance from Prichard Art Gallery Director, Roger Rowley.
The Prichard Art Gallery plays a significant role in the cultural life of the state of Idaho and enriches the educational experience of university students as well as students participating in our docent outreach programs. Attention to Detail highlights the significant professional opportunity the Prichard plays in the education of graduate students at the university.
