Join us at Bar Laika for the 23rd edition of Satellite, featuring live music performances by Miho Hatori and Paul Wilson Bae. Hatori and Wilson Bae will lead a night of improvisation on voice, electronics, and keys. The two have been collaborating for the past seven years, where Wilson Bae has been part of Hatori’s band. For their Satellite performance, they will be improvising as a duo, and we might also hear some music from Hatori’s latest album, Between Isekai and Slice of Life (2021).
Miho Hatori is an artist, music producer, vocalist, and improviser from Tokyo, based in New York. Besides her eponymous project, Hatori was part of the legendary New York group Cibo Matto. Some of her other projects include New Optimism, Miss Information, Salon Mondialité (inspired by Édouard Glissant), Smokey, and Miho (Brazilian music inspired). Hatori famously contributed to the first Gorillaz album and to songs by the Beastie Boys. She has performed at the Kitchen, Pioneer Works, Art Gallery of Ontario, The Broad museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Cleveland Museum of Art, 47 Canal, Newton Gallery, Mishkin Gallery, and many more.
Paul Wilson Bae is an artist, music producer, and audio engineer born and raised in Jamaica, Queens. Wilson Bae has found silent success with the trust given to him by many artists, such as SZA, BIGYUKI, Kassa Overall, Morgan Guerin, Quantic, Lauryn Hill, and many more. From Boiler Room to Blue Note, whether in solo expression or in a large ensemble, he brings a warm energy and a smile to light up any room.
