Kunsthalle Zürich is a privately and publicly funded institution for the presentation and mediation of contemporary art with international relevance. Verein Kunsthalle Zürich is looking for a new director (100%) to assume the management and strategic direction of Kunsthalle Zürich as its artistic, organisational and financial lead from January 1, 2025, or by arrangement.
Required profile and job description
–Proven understanding of the contemporary art scene and a sense of its social relevance. A passion for art, for artists and their vision.
–Experience programming and realising exhibitions and in the management of an exhibitions institution.
–A clear ability to communicate contemporary art to a wide audience.
–Leadership skills and experience managing a dynamic team.
–Responsibility for financial planning, fundraising and the management of donors, sponsors and supporters, building long-term relationships with these partners.
–Developing and implementing sustainable strategies and initiatives to promote environmental, social and economic responsibility. Ensuring an inclusive working culture that promotes diversity and participation and is in line with the funding agreement with the City of Zürich.
–Willingness to contribute to the positioning of the Löwenbräukunst art centre in a local and international art context, and openness to cooperation and collaborations with other partners in Zürich’s cultural scene.
–Ability to communicate in a multilingual environment. English is a prerequisite; the working language is German. A willingness to learn German within a short period of time is required.
