I. Collect recording in North Africa (Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Egypt)

The project addresses the idea of Arabic cities landscape from an auditory perspective. I would like to collect a various audio sources on location to recreate a complex and subjective soundscape which underlines dynamic character of city landscape production. Especially recording of Tension City in Arabic countries includes interview with people. More generally, this sound project raises questions about space representation and the cultural signification of sound.

Sound ambiance and Society This line of research focuses on the stakes involved. In this case society can be linked to the notion of ambiance in the sense that an ambiance always has a social, historical and social context. Whatever its nature, tonality or scale, an ambiance cannot be dissociated from a way of life that makes it possible and gives it meaning. Our aim is therefore to root our understanding of architectural and urban ambiances in contemporary ways of living and being together, in such a way as to highlight the social intercourse to which they give rise. Our concern is the place and role of ambiance in the changing face of today’s urban world and the complex processes it deploys.

II. Shipping container where the project will be played converted in an acoustic environment.

Most people use the containers to send necessities or gifts to loved ones or charities, while others ship coveted merchandise to be sold in international markets. Containers are great for transporting things, but the latest trend has been converting them. For the design of my sound project, I looked to the harbour for inspiration. The concept is to create a symbolic and physical intervention in the exhibition space. Shipping containers can be found around the globe serving a variety of unconventional functions such as classrooms, homes, offices, recreational spaces and in the same time Shipping containers are iconic symbols of harbours, the symbol of globalization and of illegal merchandises and immigration. The pictures show the straightforward conversion of containers to a structure to serve as a sound cabinet with modular sofa system around the space and green Neon’s.
