Marzocca di Senigallia
Italy
Demanio Marittimo.KM-278 is a marathon dedicated to arts, architecture, design and to the Adriatic dimension curated by Cristiana Colli and Pippo Ciorra. As every year, the 13th edition takes place on the beach of Marzocca di Senigallia on Friday, July 21 from 6pm to 6am. 12 hours of conversations, lectures, performances, films and installations will turn the beach into an actual public space, a land of welcome and exchange.
The title of this edition is SPAZIOCORPO, and takes place in a time of great questions, conflicts and fragilities at all scales, perhaps never experienced with such an intensity in the recent past. The title implicitly refers to many of Demanio’s “core concepts”: community, coexistence, project, culture, knowledge, vision, development, and care, here translated into agency by artists, architects, scholars, entrepreneurs, scientists, institutional men and women and authors in the broadest sense.
As for every edition the setting for the events is the result of a competition open to students from the School of Architecture of TU Wien—University of Vienna. The winning proposal is “Swim” by Theresa Pühringer, Johanna Mullins, Leonie Murero.
Demanio will traditionally open with a tribute to a Master of this Territory, Enzo Cucchi from Morro d’Alba, an artist celebrated all over the world.
The program is far-reaching and fully interdisciplinary. Luoghi in cammino narrates forms of regeneration, rebirth and cultural re-thinking with Florinda Saieva, Renzo Macelloni and Giulio Vesprini. The contemporary development of the new Albania will be discussed by Erion Veliaj with Anilda Ibrahimi, Mario Cucinella, Massimiliano Tonelli. The complex contemporary relations between “Corpo” and “Spazio” (body and space) are discussed in the new frames generated by our times by a a panel including Emanuele Lugli, Francesco Benelli, Martina Ardizzi, Antonio Lo Campo, Paolo Conte.
Today Italo Calvino would be 100 years old: Francesca Molteni will introduce Francesca Serra and her Atlante Calvino, a graphic project that explores the writer’s work from the new point of view of visual storytelling.
The frontiers of design are explored by Marco Sammicheli with Enrico Fratesi.
The 13th edition has given life to an ideal partnership with the 18th Architecture Biennale, curated by Anglo-Ghanaian Lesley Lokko, who focused her curatorial effort in the same direction as many of Demanio’s usual themes. A marathon of panels will involve a number of curators of national pavilions and exhibited artists, with presentations by Josephine Michau, James Taylor Foster, Karin Sanders, Fosbury, Mia Roth Cerina, Meriem Chabani and many others. The Biennale marathon will have interludes with talks by Philippe Rahm, Matilde Cassani, Michael Obrist, Pierpaolo Tamburelli. Angela Vettese and Marco De Michelis will discuss the issue of Bodyspace in the arts, whereas Luca Galofaro and Manuel Orazi will interview Sara Marini as the founder and editor of Vesper, an architecture journal.
This year’s edition establishes a connection with the exhibition Camere con vista. San Benedetto/Pesaro. Andata e ritorno, curated by Cristiana Colli and Carlo Birrozzi and supported by a grant (Strategia Fotografia 2022) issued the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture. It presents the works of four authors—photographers Luca Capuano, Paola De Pietri, Pierluigi Giorgi and sound artist and film maker Alessio Ballerini. the featured artists will dialogue with Andrea Pollarini. Photography will have another special guest: Mario Cresci, interviewed by Marco Scotini.
As every year, the food experience presents original stories. This year’s protagonist is Cheffa—Maria Vittoria Griffoni, who’ll provide Demanio with a dinner box, imagined as a micro-architecture set up as a meal.
Late hours before dawn will be the stage for a video marathon, including the premiere of the projects developed by MAXXI & LINA platform with Rebeka Bratoz, Meriem Chabani and Allan Mensah, plus others variously related to the subjects discussed along the night
The event is promoted by MAPPE magazine, Gagliardini Editore, Associazione Demanio Marittimo.Km-278 with the collaboration of MAXXI, the Municipality of Senigallia, the Marche Region and with the support of a wide network of companies, institutions and associations.
